The King’s Trust’s 'Get Into' programmes are short courses that support young people to get their 'foot in the door' in industry and start them off in their careers.
Our Get Into Construction programme will run at The Cowper Street Development, Sydney; an exciting new social housing project that uses innovative construction methods like cross-laminated timber and traditional trades to create a genuine home for those that need it most.
Run in partnership with First Choice Apprentices and KANE constructions, Get Into Construction participants will gain hands-on experience on the construction site and will be given all the necessary skills, qualifications and experience they need to take their first steps in the construction industry.
The four-week programme will run in October 2024, with one week spent gaining the necessary skills and tickets and three weeks spent on-site gaining experience in various trades on a live construction site in Glebe in partnership with First Choice Apprentices and KANE constructions.
“It’s a great opportunity for young people that want to gain experience and learn what it’s like to work in Commercial Construction. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people are encouraged to apply,” said Alex Dowthwaite, Project Lead - Sustainable Communities.
